Lakeside Lodges at Pine Lake Resort

Lake District lodges at Pine Lake Resort

Lakeside lodges on the edge of the Lake District

Our two privately owned lodges sit on the shore of Pine Lake, just off junction 35 of the M6. Kendal is around 20 minutes away and Windermere about 30, so you can spend your days in the Lakes and come home to the water.

A base for the Lakes

The southern Lakes to the north, the coast on your doorstep

Pine Lake sits just outside the Lake District National Park, near Carnforth on the Lancashire and Cumbria border. That means quieter roads, easy motorway access and the coastal villages of Arnside and Silverdale on your doorstep, with the southern Lakes a short drive or bus ride north and the Yorkshire Dales just to the east.

Days out in the Lakes

Easy Lake District days from Pine Lake

A few of our favourite ways to spend a day in the southern Lakes, all within about half an hour of the lodge. For more ideas closer to home, see our things to do near Carnforth.

Lake cruise boat on Windermere
30 min drive

Windermere

Take a cruise from Bowness or Lakeside, hop off at Ambleside for lunch, or hire a rowing boat for an hour on the water. For views without the crowds, the short climb up Orrest Head above Windermere village is one of the best introductions to the fells.

Sizergh Castle, National Trust
20 min drive

Sizergh and Kendal

Start at Sizergh, the National Trust’s medieval manor on the southern edge of the National Park, with its gardens, café and walks up onto Sizergh Fell. Then carry on into Kendal for its yards and independent shops, and pick up some mint cake for the walk.

Stone cottages beside the River Eea in Cartmel village, with a willow tree overhanging the water
35 min drive

Cartmel and Grange-over-Sands

A pretty village with a medieval priory, a racecourse and the famous sticky toffee pudding. Book lunch at Rogan & Co if it’s a special occasion, then stop for a stroll along the Edwardian promenade at Grange-over-Sands on the way home.

An evening by the lake

After a day in the fells, there’s nothing better than a swim and a sauna at the resort’s leisure club, dinner at the Lakes Bistro, then a glass of something on the terrace as the light fades over the water.

Good to know

Not quite. Pine Lake is near Carnforth, just south of the Lake District National Park boundary, with Kendal about 20 minutes away and Windermere about 30. Many guests find that’s the ideal base: easy to reach from the M6, quieter than the busiest Lakes villages, and with Morecambe Bay and the Yorkshire Dales close by too.
